Research across many cities shows that when bike infrastructure is built, cycling increases significantly. In some cities, cycling infrastructure expansion is linked to tens of thousands of additional kilometers cycled per year and Protected bike lanes specifically show the strongest increase in ridership compared to painted only lanes that motorcycle drivers actively drive on and ruin the cycling experience

With the increasing demand and surging oil prices following the war in Iran, it is imperative that we shift toward alternative modes of transportation such as public transit, electric vehicles, and, as mentioned in the question, bicycles. Making these options more convenient and accessible for the public will encourage greater use of non–oil-based transport systems and reduce reliance on gasoline-powered vehicles.

It depends on what location you live in if the lanes are big maybe they can take consideration about this, if not then they should think carefully if this is necessary base on the location that it will be implemented.
